​A Winner of the NSW Writers' Centre Inner City Poetry Prize, Benito co-hosted Sydney's premiere weekly spoken word/poetry event Bardflys at The Friend In Hand Hotel for a decade.

 

Benito has performed his poems, monologues, and spoken word pieces at festivals and venues around Australia as well as in Ubud (Indonesia), London, Edinburgh, New Orleans and New York.

 

Benito has also given workshops in poetry and spoken word and performed on radio stations including 2SER, FBi, ABC 702 and Radio National, 3RRR and Resonance FM (UK).

 

His poetry has been published in publications including The Weekend Australian, Regime, Cordite, Going Down Swinging and FUSE, Global Anthology of New Fusion Poetry' (Rattapallax, New York, 2002).
